YouTube co-founder Steve Chen to throw the first pitch at AI Taiwan baseball event this year

The New York Taiwan Chamber of Commerce announced on the 19th that Steve Chen, co-founder of YouTube, will be the guest of honor for this year’s AI Taiwan baseball event.

Every summer, Taiwanese Americans gather together to watch baseball games at Citi Field, a tradition that has been going on for nearly twenty years. This year, the New York Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, New Jersey Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, New York Taiwan Youth Chamber of Commerce, along with over ten Taiwanese American community organizations, have come together to invite Taiwanese Americans to gather at Citi Field on August 17 at 4 p.m. to watch the New York Mets play against the Miami Marlins.

Taiwanese people have a strong passion for baseball, and Taiwanese Americans often come together during such events to show their love for Taiwan and the United States through the sport on this land of fairness and freedom.

This year is a shining year for artificial intelligence (AI), with many Taiwanese Americans holding important positions in this field. Therefore, the theme of this year’s gathering is set as AI (love) Taiwan.

Steve Chen is a co-founder of YouTube. During the pandemic, he and his family relocated to Taiwan, becoming the first foreigner to be granted the “Employment Gold Card” by the government. Chen continued to venture in Taiwan and co-founded Durock Capital with Fu Guanlong, which manages investments using AI technology.

Earlier this month, the New York Taiwan Chamber of Commerce and Taiwan Youth Chamber of Commerce held a forum titled “From Silicon Valley through Taiwan to Wall Street: A Taiwanese-American Perspective,” inviting Steve Chen and Fu Guanlong to share their entrepreneurial experiences in both the U.S. and Taiwan, and discuss the future prospects of finance and technology industries in the AI era. Durock Group also rang the bell at the New York Stock Exchange on July 12 to celebrate the successful listing of its first ETF.

President Lin Qingfu stated, “We are especially grateful to Mr. Steve Chen for taking the time out of his busy schedule to join the Taiwanese American community in the greater New York area for this meaningful event. His achievements in artificial intelligence and technological innovation have set an example for the global tech industry and are a source of pride for Taiwanese Americans. Having Mr. Steve Chen as our guest of honor for the opening pitch is a highlight of our event this year. We look forward to celebrating this special moment with him.”
