On Tuesday night (June 11), a young woman was stabbed to death in Midtown Manhattan’s Eighth Avenue.
According to the New York City Police Department, on June 11, 2024 (Tuesday), at around 10:17 p.m., the police received a 911 call reporting an attack outside 304 West 40th Street in the jurisdiction of the Midtown South Precinct. Upon arrival, the police found a 22-year-old woman with stab wounds to her chest. The victim was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in New York City for emergency treatment but was later pronounced dead.
Google Maps shows that the address 304 West 40th Street is a Chinese restaurant. When reporters visited the scene on Wednesday afternoon, they found that the restaurant had been replaced by a grocery store. A store employee mentioned that around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, two women were chatting outside 315 West 40th Street, and a quarrel escalated into a physical fight, during which one of the women stabbed the victim with a knife. The suspect and the victim were not of Asian descent. The store employee also mentioned that they had provided the surveillance video footage from outside the store to the police for investigation.
The police stated that a female suspect, wearing a white shirt and blue jeans, fled along Eighth Avenue. Currently, no one has been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing. The police have not released the identity of the deceased, pending notification of the family.
