Yellow River experiences the first flood of 2024.

On July 29th, the first flood of the year occurred in the Yellow River as a result of continuous rainfall.

At 9:36 am on July 29th, the flow rate at the Tangnaihai hydrological station in the upper reaches of the Yellow River main stream (located in Xinghai County, Qinghai Province) reached 2510 cubic meters per second, and the water level is expected to continue rising. According to the regulations on the numbering of major river floods issued by the Ministry of Water Resources of the Chinese Communist Party, the flood has met the criteria for being designated as the first flood of 2024 in the Yellow River.

Prior to this, at 9:00 pm on July 28th, the Central Yellow River Flood Control and Drought Relief Command and the Yellow River Water Conservancy Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources respectively activated Level IV emergency response for flood prevention in Qinghai Province in response to the rising water levels in the Yellow River.
