The 26th Taipei Film Festival Awards Ceremony will be held on July 6, and today (27th), the second batch of award presenters was announced. Golden Horse Best Actress Yang Guimei will present the Outstanding Contribution Award to hand-painted film billboard artist Yan Zhenfa. This year’s nominated film dubbing will be done by Cheng Yuxi, who has refrained from certain foods for a month in preparation for her role.
In the past, the Taipei Film Festival Awards ceremony has had a tradition of inviting actors to dub for the nominated films. In 2021 and 2022, it was Sun Kefang, and this year, Cheng Yuxi, who won the Golden Bell Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Mini-Series/TV Movie for “The First Encounter with Floral Fragrance,” has been invited to dub for the festival.
Over the years, Cheng Yuxi has continuously improved her skills through various acting classes. She mentioned that in 2019, she started training with the “LinkLater Voice System” after being selected as a newcomer. She then continued to study with a teacher for two more years. In 2023, she also served as a guest for the Taipei Film Festival nomination announcement, showing her commitment to serving the film and television industry through voice acting.
She said, “Voice can be easily hindered by stress or emotions. For example, when feeling excited, angry, or crying, the voice can easily get stuck. But through voice classes, you can learn how to relax.”
On the eve of her dubbing work, she refrained from fried and spicy food, as well as coffee, for nearly a month. She even refrained from eating at company parties, fearing it might affect her vocal performance. However, three weeks before the dubbing session, she suddenly caught a severe cold, causing a runny nose, a heavy nasal tone, and some hoarseness. She had to urgently visit two doctors to recover her voice. She hopes that her final performance will make everyone participating in the awards ceremony feel warm and supported.
In addition to the previously announced presenters, 16 more presenters were revealed for this year’s Taipei Film Festival Awards ceremony. This includes jury chairman Chen Guo and the Best Actress of the Taipei Film Festival, Xu Weining, jointly announcing the million-dollar top prize.
Popular newcomers Cai Fanxi and Chen Yanfei will present the awards for Best Costume Design and Art Design. Voice actors in recent animated films Zhong Xinling and Lulu Huang Luyin will announce the winners for Outstanding Technical Achievement and Best Animated Film together.
Last year’s Best Supporting Actor, Xue Shiling, will present the awards for Best Editing and Best Documentary with Xie Xinyin, who won the Taipei Film Festival Best Actress for “The Destiny Makeup Artist.”
Taipei Film Festival Best Actress Xie Yingsuan and Zhong Yao will jointly present the Best Screenplay award, while the Best Director award will be announced by this year’s exceptional actors Ke Jiayan and Xu Ruoxuan from the opening film “Ping Pong Boys”. The Best Actor award will be jointly announced by last year’s Best Supporting Actor winner Fu Mengbai and Wen Zhenlin, who was nominated for the Golden Horse Best Supporting Actress for “Sunshine.”
The highly anticipated Best Feature Film award will be announced by Chen Yihan, who won the Taipei Film Festival Best Actress for “Heard it Before” and was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress for “Xiao Xiao” this year, together with the newcomer selection jury Lin Xinru.
