Xiaomi Car Drives Away on Its Own, Surveillance Video Exposed

On September 30th, a Xiaomi car owner in Weihai, Shandong Province, posted a video claiming that his car suddenly drove away while parked at the entrance without anyone operating it, demanding an explanation from the manufacturer.

Surveillance footage showed that after parking the car at the store entrance, the owner went inside and shortly after, the car automatically locked the doors with a beep sound. Subsequently, while the owner and a woman were working inside the store, the vehicle made another beep sound, started up, and drove off. The woman noticed the sound and turned around to find the car gone, causing her to scream in shock. The owner quickly chased after the car. Fortunately, the incident did not result in any serious consequences.

On October 1st, the car owner told Langchao News that after the incident, he contacted Xiaomi’s customer service, who said it might have been a mistaken touch on the phone that led to the vehicle starting up. The owner, however, insisted that he did not operate the phone when the car started and released the full surveillance video as evidence. In the surveillance video, it was evident that no one touched the owner’s phone while the car was parked at the entrance, as the phone remained inside a box.

Langchao News reporters attempted to contact Xiaomi’s official customer service regarding the incident but did not receive a response by the time of publication.
