Xiao Zhe Min’s 5.18 Queen’s District Botanical Garden Workshop: Plant Drawing Composition Arrangement

Superfine Art Fair NYC will be held from May 2nd to May 5th in Midtown Manhattan, New York. Taiwanese painter Xiao Zhe Min’s artworks will be showcased at the art fair.

Xiao Zhe Min is a watercolor painter known for his works featuring flowers, birds, fish, insects, and figures. He, along with artist Johanna Aenderl Ryan, will be participating as artists in residence at ChaShaMa’s Space to Create and will be showcasing their works at the New York Fine Art Fair from May 2nd to 5th at “One Five One” in Manhattan. Over 130 artists will be exhibiting their creations at the fair. Their booth, Booth 120 at ChaShaMa Space for Artists, will feature original paintings, drawings, and prints.

In addition, Xiao Zhe Min will be hosting a workshop on advanced watercolor painting titled “Botanical Composition Arrangement” at the Queens Botanical Garden on May 18th (Saturday) from 11 AM to 1 PM. The workshop is open to individuals with a foundation in watercolor painting, particularly those who have attended the Queens Botanical Garden’s “Seasonal Watercolor Workshop” or are familiar with the basics of watercolor painting. Participants will have the chance to experience the fun of watercolor painting by utilizing brush strokes and seasonal plant references provided by the garden to construct a complete composition arrangement on paper. On June 5th (Wednesday) from 11 AM to 1:30 PM, Xiao Zhe Min will be conducting an “Asian Ink Brushwork Painting” workshop at the New York Botanical Garden. In this workshop, he will teach the fundamentals of Asian ink brushwork painting, including techniques for color painting on various paper surfaces and how to use a brush. Participants will also engage in observing and studying the rock garden at the New York Botanical Garden, drawing inspiration from seasonal flowers and plant elements, and creating various artworks depicting nature based on their knowledge and observations.
