Taiwanese actress Big S (Dee Hsu) passed away suddenly in Japan at the age of 48, shocking the entertainment industry. Her sister, Little S (Barbie Hsu), confirmed the news of Big S’s death through her manager on the 3rd of February.
Yesterday, a Facebook fan page “Japan Traveler Travel Shopping Gourmet Information” revealed, “A famous Taiwanese star has passed away, an official announcement will be made later, 48 years old, sudden illness from the flu in Japan.” After internet users compared clues, it was speculated wildly that the star could be Big S, Dee Hsu. The news was confirmed early this morning by Little S’s manager.
Little S released a statement through her manager, saying, “Thank you all for your concern! During the New Year, our whole family came to Japan for a vacation. My dearest and kind sister, Xiyuan, contracted pneumonia due to the flu and sadly left us. Grateful to have been her sister in this lifetime, taking care of each other, I will always appreciate and remember her! Xiyuan, have a safe journey! Forever loving you together remember forever.”
Big S, at the young age of 17 in 1994, formed the girl group “S.O.S” with her sister, Little S. In 1996, the sisters entered the entertainment industry under the name “ASOS” and co-hosted programs such as “Guess Guess Guess” and “100% Entertainment.” In 2001, Big S ventured into the film and television industry, starring alongside the boy band F4 in “Meteor Garden,” earning a nomination for Best Actress at the Golden Bell Awards.
Following her success, Big S appeared in various film and television works, including “Mars,” “Summer’s Desire,” and “Love Keeps Going,” among many other notable works. Besides her career, her romantic relationships also garnered public attention.
At the end of 1998, Big S had a secret relationship with former Kuro Dragon group member, Jimmy Lin, for a year. However, they broke up due to Jimmy Lin’s agency’s prohibition on dating. Later, Big S had brief relationships with drama co-stars Blue Lan and Vic Chou, respectively.
