On September 3, the Chinese Communist Party held a military parade at Tiananmen Square in Beijing. During the event, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Putin were caught on microphone having a private conversation about “organ transplants” and “living to 150 years old,” which shocked both domestic and international audiences.
Italian writer Li Ying shared on X platform that after the news broke, searches for “150” on WeChat saw a surge of 9650% in a single day, surpassing 3.36 million searches.
Recently, foreign media such as Reuters broadcasted a live video from CCTV of the CCP, showing Xi Jinping and Putin among other leaders heading to the venue before the “9.3 military parade” ceremony began. During this time, the microphone accidentally picked up Xi Jinping and Putin discussing topics related to organ transplants and eternal youth.
Xi Jinping said to Putin, “In the past, few people lived to be 70, but now 70 is just a child.”
Putin responded to Xi’s statement, with his interpreter translating in Chinese, “With the development of biotechnology, human organs can be continuously transplanted, allowing people to live increasingly younger, and even potentially achieving eternal youth.”
Xi Jinping then continued, “Some predict that in this century, humans may live to be 150 years old.”
The leaked conversation between the two leaders has sparked widespread attention. Despite efforts to censor related information domestically, it has still made its way into the country. According to Li Ying, Italian writer, who shared contributions from netizens on X platform, on the day of the military parade, searches for the number “150” on WeChat saw an abnormal spike, with an overall increase of 9650.24% compared to the previous day, reaching 3,368,513 searches. Mainland Chinese netizens on Douyin have expressed concerns, with comments like, “If Xi Jinping lives to be 150 years old, it will be ‘hell without end’!”
Netizens have left comments such as, “Even ‘150’ will be censored,” “Can’t hold it in anymore,” and “At 150, the vegetables and us will be rubbed in the mud for over 70 years, and now it’s just beginning.”
