Wuhan University student commits suicide after indiscriminately attacking people in cafeteria.

Today (June 4th), a student at Wuhan University attacked people with a knife in the fourth cafeteria. The student, who was blocked by the thesis committee, randomly attacked people in the cafeteria, injuring at least three individuals. The student then committed suicide. As of the time of reporting by Epoch Times, the local authorities have not announced the incident.

According to information circulating on mainland social media platforms on the 4th, it is reported that a horrifying indiscriminate knife attack occurred in the Wuhan University cafeteria, leaving three people injured. Students going to the cafeteria for a meal were inexplicably targeted and attacked.

Witnesses mentioned, “He rushed in and started attacking indiscriminately, then everyone scattered. Someone hit him with a chair, and he proceeded to cut his own throat.” “At least three people were covered in blood.”

Some netizens commented that with the economy downturn and social pressures increasing, people’s stress levels are high, leading to volatile behavior.

A current student at Wuhan University explained to Epoch Times that the incident stemmed from a senior student whose graduation thesis was intentionally obstructed by the committee members. His advisor helped him revise the thesis four or five times, only to have it rejected by the committee just before the defense presentation.

The student, who submitted his thesis on April 24th, was informed this morning that there were major structural issues requiring substantial revisions. The thesis defense was scheduled just two days later, which left him feeling frustrated. In the afternoon, he went to the Wuhan University fourth cafeteria and initiated the random attack, driven by the mounting pressure. The committee members were not present on campus, and he did not know their specific identities.

The student attacked two people, who are estimated to be out of danger. After cutting himself, his condition remains uncertain until proper medical treatment is administered.

It was pointed out that the difficulty did not lie in the graduation thesis itself but rather in the malicious obstruction by the committee members for meeting quotas. It is not a matter of the student’s inability to cope with pressure.

A photo from the student’s social media account circulating on social media showed a caption: “Only going to the cafeteria to attack with a knife, a few lucky viewers will accompany me on the journey. Too lazy to continue playing, restarting.” “When collective efforts fail, only killing remains, nothing works better than a kitchen knife.”

On May 29th, an article was published by the Municipal Urban Public Industry Association of Dazhou City, introducing the situation at the fourth cafeteria of Wuhan University. The article mentioned that the cafeteria is not only a crucial place for students and faculty to fulfill their dining needs but also holds significant memories in the hearts of Wuhan University students.

The article also highlighted the fact that the Wuhan University fourth cafeteria has hosted numerous guests over the years.
