The White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt announced on Thursday (July 17) that President Trump will visit Scotland from July 25 to 29.
During his visit to Scotland, the President will also visit Turnberry and Aberdeen.
“During the visit, President Trump will once again meet with British Prime Minister Stammer to further enhance the great trade agreement between the United States and the United Kingdom,” Leavitt said.
She also mentioned that President Trump and First Lady Melania will undertake an official state visit to the UK from September 17 to 19.
“This will be President Trump’s unprecedented second state visit to the UK. He is very honored and looking forward to meeting with His Majesty at Windsor Castle,” the White House spokesperson stated.
A few days ago, President Trump mentioned that he would meet Stammer in Aberdeen. The meeting will cover various issues.
According to Reuters citing White House officials, during his visit to Scotland, Trump will visit his two golf course properties located in Turnberry and Aberdeen.
Turnberry golf course is situated on the west coast of Scotland and has hosted the British Open Championship four times, with the most recent one being in 2009. During his 2016 campaign, Trump visited the course and was welcomed by bagpipers dressed in traditional Scottish attire.
The state visit to the UK holds historical significance, as Trump will become the first modern US President to be invited by a British monarch for a state visit twice. Trump’s last state visit to the UK was in June 2019 when he had lunch with Queen Elizabeth II (now deceased) at Buckingham Palace and had afternoon tea with the then-heir to the throne, Prince Charles.
