In the news report published by Dajiyuan on April 12, 2025, it was reported that President Trump vowed to restore global fair trade and is using strong measures to pressure the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stated on Friday, April 11 that President Trump is optimistic about reaching a trade agreement with China.
President Trump has consistently criticized communist China as the “biggest violator” in trade history and demanded that they respect trade rules. Leavitt mentioned in a press briefing, “The President has clearly stated that he is open to reaching an agreement with China (CCP).”
She added, “If China (CCP) continues to retaliate, it will not be beneficial for them.”
Due to a misjudgment of the situation, the CCP has put itself in an awkward position, facing high tariffs of up to 145% imposed solely by the United States and revealing its rogue nature unreservedly to the world. Trump accused the CCP of “lack of respect for world markets” and further stated, “Hopefully in the near future, the Chinese side will realize that exploiting the United States and other countries is no longer sustainable nor acceptable.”
In stark contrast, more than 75 countries have contacted U.S. officials, including officials from the Department of Commerce, the Department of the Treasury, and the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), hoping to negotiate solutions for ongoing discussions on trade, trade barriers, tariffs, currency manipulation, and non-tariff barriers.
Trump has shown goodwill towards allies by agreeing to a 90-day tariff suspension and reducing equivalent tariffs to 10%.
The U.S.-China trade relationship has sharply deteriorated, with CNN reporting that the United States will not engage with the CCP authorities first. Trump has instructed his team that the CCP must take the initiative to show goodwill towards the United States, as the White House believes it was Beijing’s choice to retaliate, escalating the trade war further.
