On May 18, 2024, member of the popular band DAY6, Young K (Kang Young-hyun), hosted the second episode of the YouTube program “K Survival Memo” on the evening of the 17th. TWICE member Nayeon, the guest of this episode, shared the items she would like to bring and things she would like to do before the end of the world. This not only made Young K laugh heartily but also made the audience exclaim, “Nayeon is truly an idol.”
The theme of the program “K Survival Memo” is “The end of the world is coming, news says a giant meteor is approaching.” Therefore, Young K asked Nayeon to tell everyone what she must bring on the day of the apocalypse.
Nayeon chose her phone. She said, “I think it’s okay to have just this (phone). If the world is going to end, I need to contact my family.” When Young K added, “Your family is with you,” Nayeon responded, “Are they? Then… (communicating with fans through the chat system) ‘Bubble,’ right?”
As soon as these words were uttered, Nayeon and Young K glanced at each other for just half a second, and both burst into laughter along with the on-site staff. Young K kept clapping and the subtitles read “Bubble filial daughter,” indicating Nayeon’s sincere dedication to her fans.
Young K loudly responded to Nayeon, saying, “You definitely have to send a Bubble message! Of course, that’s how it is!” Nayeon jokingly said, “I’m an idol,” to which Young K replied with a thumbs up, praising Nayeon, “You’re amazing!” Nayeon then added, “If the world is going to end, I have to bid farewell to everyone,” and Young K agreed, saying, “Yes, that’s for sure.”
After the release of this video, fans from various countries wrote online, “Nayeon is truly born to be an idol,” “Even at the end of the world, she wants to send Bubble messages to fans, so touching,” and more.
Nayeon also revealed on the show that when she was young, she used to dance alone in front of a mirror at home as if she was on a music program. She particularly remembered watching a straight video of Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon holding a lollipop, and she imitated the dance with candy in hand. She also danced along with a video of the girl group KARA.
When Young K shared that he danced to Super Junior’s “Sorry Sorry,” Nayeon suddenly mentioned a Super Junior song that she had changed the lyrics to on her own. She hummed the melody and sang in Korean, “Wasabi tomato sauce fried chicken rice scoop,” leaving Young K baffled, saying, “I don’t know, I don’t know (this song), isn’t it sung like that?” Nayeon nervously asked the staff on site, “Do you know?” Young K asked her to sing it again.
When Nayeon sang along with the melody, “Wasabi tomato sauce fried chicken rice scoop,” Young K finally realized and sang the original lyrics of Super Junior’s “U,” saying, “Ah, (‘Cause I can’t stop thinking ’bout u girl’),” to which Nayeon nodded in agreement, and the staff burst into laughter.
Nayeon also mentioned that she and the TWICE members enjoyed watching “We Got Married 3” and revealed that one of the TWICE members cried while watching the show. She then shared a selfie video in the group chat room saying, “This episode is so sad,” surprising Young K.
When discussing the theme of the show again, “Before the world ends,” Nayeon said she would like to bring her favorite snacks. Young K asked her to choose between her favorite snacks and emergency rations that could be exchanged for money in times of disaster. Nayeon chose her favorite snacks because “that way, I’ll have energy.”
Furthermore, Nayeon showed everyone the pillow she always brings with her when she goes on overseas tours. She explained that dancing during the tour can make her neck uncomfortable, so she must have her comfortable pillow to sleep well.
Among the things Nayeon wants to bring before the world ends are glasses, lipstick, for the reasons: “If I wear contact lenses, my eyes will hurt (I want them to be more comfortable), I want to take a photo with my family at the last moment, if my lips crack it will hurt, and I want to look my best at the end (so it has to be colored lipstick).”
At the end of the program, Young K asked her to give up three of the items from “We Got Married 3,” phone, snacks, mirror, lipstick, pillow, glasses. Nayeon gave up the “We Got Married 3” she had finished watching, the mirror that could be replaced by her phone, and the snacks, so the “necessities before the end of the world” that remained were “phone, glasses, lipstick.”
