West America Huangpu Association to Commemorate its 100th Anniversary of Establishment on June 1

The Chinese American Republic of China Huangpu Friends Association commemorates the 100th anniversary of the founding of Huangpu Academy, and will hold a patriotic song concert, cultural relics exhibition, and other activities from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm on Saturday, June 1. The commemorative event will take place at the Overseas Chinese Cultural and Educational Services Center in Los Angeles, with registration starting at 1:30 pm.

During the press conference held at the Overseas Chinese Center on Tuesday, May 21, the association’s president, Xie Chuanzuo, stated that the patriotic song concert is the highlight of the commemoration, and many precious exhibits will be publicly displayed for the first time in a special cultural relics exhibition. He welcomed everyone to invite their friends and family to join in commemorating the selfless dedication, struggle, and sacrifices of our predecessors; cash prizes and China Airlines tickets will be drawn at the end of the event.

Chairman Wang Zhuqing explained that the main purpose of establishing the association is to assist elderly Huangpu alumni, and to pass down the true history of the period of the Chinese Civil War and the War of Resistance Against Japan through the oral history and data collection efforts of Huangpu friends.

During the press conference, Chen Minyong, director of the Overseas Chinese Center, and other guests reviewed the spirit of Huangpu and the history of Huangpu Military Academy, with the presence of Chen Baiqi, President of the Southern California Alumni Association of the Army Officer School, showing support.
