On August 5th, the 42nd annual “National Night Out” event, a community police initiative aimed at combating crime, was held simultaneously in various locations across the United States. The American digital media platform “Clean World” participated in the event in Washington D.C. and was recognized for its efforts.
During the event, Cynthia Zhang, a volunteer from “Clean World” in Washington D.C., mentioned that the organization received a commendation certificate from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) for their contributions. The certificate highlighted the mission of Clean World, based in New York, which aims to provide a safe, healthy online platform free from explicit content and violence. It emphasizes traditional moral values, freedom of speech, and filters out harmful information for families and children to browse safely.
At the National Night Out event in the Washington D.C. area, Clean World set up nine booths that were well-received by the public, particularly drawing interest from parents and children regarding Clean World’s summer camp programs.
Previous winner of the 2023 Miss Senior D.C. beauty pageant, Cerise Turner, expressed to the media that the National Night Out event provides law enforcement agencies and communities with an opportunity to connect and enhance community safety.
Turner spent considerable time at the Clean World booth, emphasizing that Clean World is a positive and dynamic online platform. She noted that amidst prevalent injustices in China, people need a platform to access information and express their voices.
Local resident Jimmy Kenga shared his positive views on Clean World, praising their use of technology to create a family-friendly platform that helps individuals steer clear of violence.
Kenga described how his neighborhood had witnessed incidents of youth violence in recent years but has seen improvements with the intervention of programs like Clean World.
Statistics from the Washington D.C. Police Department indicated a decrease of around 26% in violent crimes in the first seven months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, with an overall crime rate reduction of about 7%.
This recognition is not the first for “Clean World” in Washington D.C. In May 23, 2025, the organization was honored with a commendation certificate from the Governor’s Office of Maryland, acknowledging the exceptional community service provided by three volunteers, Zhao Meifang, Xie Xilin, and Cynthia Zhang.
