The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that Swedish car manufacturer Volvo Cars is recalling 413,151 vehicles in the United States due to issues with the rear-view camera.
This recall affects several Volvo models, including the XC40 from 2021 to 2025, where the rear-view camera image may not display when the vehicle is in reverse, increasing the risk of collisions.
As a remedy, Volvo will be providing software updates through dealerships or over-the-air (OTA) upgrades.
Volvo’s recall comes shortly after its fellow Swedish electric car manufacturer, Polestar, recalled over 27,000 Polestar 2 models in the U.S. for the same reason.
Polestar models and some Volvo models are based on the same platform, as the two car manufacturers collaborate on production. Currently, the Polestar 2 model cannot be ordered in the United States.
