In continuation of the appearance of three suns in places like Suining and Guangde in Sichuan on July 26, recently, residents of Chengdu, Sichuan witnessed a rare phenomenon of seven suns simultaneously in the sky at a hospital. The citizen who witnessed this unique spectacle claimed that it lasted for about a minute before disappearing, and many people from different angles were able to see it. The event sparked discussions among netizens.
On August 19, a video posted on the Weibo account “People’s Concern” reported that on the evening of August 18, a woman named Wang from Chengdu captured the phenomenon of seven suns in the sky from the 11th floor of the hospital’s inpatient department. Other residents also claimed to have seen six suns.
The video footage shows several suns lined up in a row, with one sun being the brightest, followed by the brightness of the suns on its sides.
Wang expressed her excitement and disbelief at the time, stating, “Everyone could see the sun in the middle, but upon closer inspection, there were seven suns.”
In recent years, similar phenomena have frequently occurred in mainland China. On July 26, three suns appeared in places like Suining and Guangde in Sichuan. In 2023 and 2022, multiple suns, including four, three, and two suns, were also observed in Sichuan, Beijing, and other regions. Several media outlets in China have reported on these occurrences.
Speaking of multiple suns, in ancient Chinese legends, the suns were the sons of the sun god Xihe. Normally, they took turns appearing in the sky to illuminate the earth. However, one day, all ten suns appeared simultaneously, scorching the earth with intense heat, causing rivers to dry up, crops to wither, and widespread suffering. Unable to endure the unbearable heat, people’s lives were pushed to the brink. It was not until the archer Hou Yi used his bow and arrow to shoot down nine of the suns, leaving only one sun in the sky, that the earth returned to normal. As a result, Hou Yi was hailed as a hero by the people.
