Recently, Mr. Cheng, a citizen of Changsha City, Hunan Province, bravely reported the unlawful and disciplinary actions of Xiao Feng, the Deputy Secretary of the LingShui County Committee in Hainan Province, who has been involved in destroying his family. Mr. Cheng revealed that Xiao Feng had been maintaining an improper relationship with his wife for a long time. He even shared explicit chat screenshots between his wife and Xiao Feng. The whistleblower also disclosed an allegation of collusion involving a “high-ranking leader,” who was suspected of tampering with evidence and demanding to deny the accusations.
According to the report by Hainan Post, Mr. Cheng submitted a written report and evidence to the Hainan Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection on the afternoon of November 20. Shortly after, he received a phone call from the Commission, informing him that Xiao Feng had been taken away for investigation.
The Commission’s staff confirmed that they had received the report and evidence provided by Mr. Cheng, acknowledging the existence of an improper relationship between Xiao Feng and Mr. Cheng’s wife, Chen. While they already had some evidence regarding the allegations of “Xiao Feng receiving benefits during his term of office,” they requested further materials for verification and detailed discussion.
In the whistleblower video, Mr. Cheng also revealed that a local “high-ranking leader” was suspected of colluding overnight to destroy evidence and suppressing the truth. Under the guise of an investigation, this leader allegedly used professional techniques to delete relevant evidence from both Mr. Cheng’s and his wife’s phones. Fortunately, with the help of professionals, some of the deleted messages were recovered, serving as evidence against the reported illegal activities of Xiao Feng.
Xiao Feng’s last official appearance was at an event four days ago on November 18. On that day, the “LingShui Political and Legal Affairs” released a statement mentioning that on November 14, a special education conference on grassroots governance, rectification of misconduct around the people, and combating corruption was held in Yelin Town. Wu Haifeng, the Secretary of the County Party Committee, attended and spoke at the meeting, while Xiao Feng, the Deputy Secretary of the County Committee and Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Committee, chaired the meeting.
Following the coverage of the above report by mainland Chinese media, it has sparked public attention and discussions online. Many netizens on Weibo commented on the issue, expressing concerns and opinions. Some questioned the moral integrity of officials and leaders, highlighting the prevalence of corruption and unethical behavior within the government.
The exposure of these incidents has shed light on the dark side of many officials and leaders. It is evident that a significant number of party members and cadres have lost their sense of shame and integrity. The courage and vigilance of whistleblowers like Mr. Cheng are commendable, but it is crucial for them to stay cautious amid such revelations. The public outcry reflects the growing discontent and demand for transparency and accountability within the ranks of party members and officials.
