Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala Visits Taiwan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) stated that the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Guatemala, Julio Eduardo OROZCO PÉREZ, will visit Taiwan from the 5th to the 9th of this month at the invitation of the ROC government. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warmly welcomes his visit.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China issued a press release mentioning that this is Deputy Minister Orozco’s first visit to Taiwan since taking office in January this year. During his visit, he will meet with Foreign Minister Joseph Wu, attend a luncheon hosted by Deputy Minister Tien Li-kuo, and visit the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the International Cooperation and Development Fund, the Central American Bank Taipei Office, Overseas Investment Development Corporation, the Taiwan Textile Federation, and the Taipei Importers and Exporters Chamber of Commerce.

Furthermore, Deputy Minister Orozco will also attend the opening ceremony of the Asia-Pacific Sustainable Expo organized by the Taiwan Sustainable Energy Research Foundation. He will participate in relevant forums and discussions, and visit institutions such as the Hsinchu Science Park, Industrial Technology Research Institute, and the National Palace Museum, focusing on economic and cultural development. This visit aims not only to gain insights into the industrial development of the Republic of China but also to enhance understanding of the investment environment in Guatemala among various sectors in Taiwan.

Deputy Minister Orozco is well-experienced and knowledgeable in economic and trade issues. He has held important positions such as Economic Attache at the Guatemalan Embassy in the United States, Business Commissioner of the Business, Trade, and Investment Project at the US Pacific Institute (PACIT), and Director of Sustainable Tourism at the Association of Caribbean States (AEC).

The diplomatic relations between the Republic of China and the Republic of Guatemala have spanned over 90 years, characterized by close and friendly bilateral ties. The two countries have longstanding cooperation and exchange in various fields such as public health, medical care, trade and economy, infrastructure development, technical cooperation, and education and culture, yielding fruitful results.
