Four years ago, Gao Tao, who was “parachuted in” to serve as the Deputy Governor of Liaoning, has recently been relieved of his duties as Deputy Governor of Liaoning Province.
According to the Liaoning Daily on March 27, the 15th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 14th People’s Congress of Liaoning Province decided to relieve Gao Tao of his position as Deputy Governor of the Liaoning Provincial Government.
Gao Tao, born in November 1969, is a male Communist Party member from Rushan, Shandong.
Since 2009, Gao Tao has served as the Director and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the 55th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation. In 2018, he became the Executive Director, Secretary of the Party Committee, and General Manager of the South China Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, while retaining his position as Director of the 55th Research Institute.
In 2019, Gao Tao became a member of the Party Committee and Vice General Manager of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation.
On March 31, 2021, the Liaoning Provincial authorities approved the appointment and removal list through the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Liaoning Province, appointing Gao Tao as the Deputy Governor of Liaoning Province.
During his tenure as Deputy Governor of Liaoning Province, Gao Tao was in charge of areas such as technological innovation and market supervision. He was responsible for the reform and innovation of the Shenyang-Fushun Pilot Zone. He oversaw the Provincial Science and Technology Department (Foreign Experts Bureau), Provincial Market Supervision Administration, Provincial Drug Administration, Provincial Intellectual Property Office, Shenyang-Fushun Pilot Zone Management Committee, Provincial Technology Innovation R&D Engineering Center (Provincial Industrial Technology Research Institute), and Provincial Inspection, Testing and Certification Center.
Currently, the authorities have not disclosed the specific reasons for Gao Tao’s dismissal, nor have they clarified whether he will be assigned a new position.
