Famous mainland Chinese actor Fan Shiqi (original name Fan Shiqi), who has been repeatedly implicated in the Yu Menglong falling case, was scheduled to hold his “Fan Shiqi’s Foolish Blood Concert” in Chengdu on October 18. However, it was reported earlier that only 15 tickets were sold. On October 9, his studio issued an urgent statement announcing the cancellation of the concert.
Fan Shiqi’s studio stated on October 9: “Due to the artist’s health reasons, after evaluation and strong recommendations from a professional medical team and comprehensive consideration from the team, the ‘Fan Shiqi Foolish Chengdu Station’ concert scheduled for October 18, 2025, in Chengdu had to be canceled.” They also mentioned that the follow-up ticket refund processing and compensation for transportation and accommodation would be carried out gradually.
The news sparked discussions among netizens, with many believing that Fan Shiqi’s last-minute cancellation of the concert is related to his recent involvement in the Yu Menglong falling case.
Yu Menglong, 37, passed away on September 11 in Beijing due to a fall from a building in a residential area. The police swiftly “ruled out criminal suspicion” and concluded it as “accidental death due to alcohol consumption.” However, it was alleged by a blogger that there were either 6 or 17 people gathering on the night of Yu Menglong’s incident, including a director, a screenwriter, an agent, a relative of a senior CCP official named “Xin Qi,” actress Song Yiren, and Fan Shiqi. There are suspicions from the public that Yu Menglong’s cause of death is not simple and may be related to his refusal to comply with unspoken rules in the industry.
Although both Fan Shiqi and his studio have responded to rumors as “baseless,” urging to stop spreading defamatory statements, the controversy surrounding him continues unabated. It was reported that the rumors led to only 15 tickets being sold for Fan Shiqi’s concert.
At the end of September, Fan Shiqi made a guest appearance in the new drama “Let Me Shine,” starring Zhao Lusi and Chen Weiting. The drama garnered over 29,000 views within three days of its release, breaking the annual record on Tencent Video. However, Fan Shiqi’s portrayal of the character “Jiang Liang” led to criticism from netizens for “ruining the plot,” with references to Yu Menglong’s falling incident.
Fan Shiqi and Yu Menglong both participated in the 2013 talent show “Happy Boys Voice,” representing the Beijing region and both making it to the top ten. They also signed with the same talent agency, “Tianyu Media.” Subsequently, both of them became active in the drama industry, with Yu Menglong gaining fame for series like “The Princess Weiyoung” and “Eternal Love,” being hailed as the “ancient costume male god,” while Fan Shiqi starred in dramas like “Painting Rivers and Lakes,” “Too Bad It’s Not You,” and “The Great Protector.”
