Utah Dog Goes Missing, Reappears in Texas Two Weeks Later

In a surprising turn of events, a dog from Utah recently went missing only to reappear two weeks later at an animal shelter in Texas, over 1,000 miles apart. The staff at the shelter were astonished by this development and are now preparing to reunite the dog with its owner.

According to a report by CBS on April 7, the dog named Huey originally resided in Utah. Its owner had entrusted someone to take care of it, but the dog managed to escape.

For some unknown reason, Huey ended up in Collin County, Texas, a distance of over a thousand miles from its original home. The county’s animal shelter took Huey in as a stray, and later transferred it to Colony Animal Services.

Since Huey’s story started circulating online, it has garnered over 12,000 views.

This week, with the community’s contributions totaling around $2,000 for transportation costs, Huey will soon be able to return to its home in Utah and reunite with its owner.

Mark Cooper, the Operations Director of Colony Animal Services, stated, “He’s a beautiful dog, and we want to help him.”

He further mentioned that they aim to assist Huey’s family and Collin County in the safe return of the dog to its home.

Instances of dogs going missing and being found in distant states like this have occurred before. In a report by Dajiyuan in 2022, a mixed-breed German Shepherd named Zeppelin from California was discovered in Kansas after being missing for over a year, a distance of approximately 1,600 miles away. This reunion left the owner amazed. With the help of volunteers, the dog was able to return home and reunite with its owner.
