The US State Department announced on Tuesday (October 14th) that it has revoked the visas of six foreign nationals for making inappropriate comments on social media regarding the stabbing incident involving American conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
The State Department issued a warning on Tuesday stating that the Trump administration would continue to take action against those celebrating the attack on Kirk.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, the State Department said, “The State Department is actively investigating visa holders who have celebrated the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk. President Trump and Secretary Rubio will defend our borders, our culture, and our citizens through the enforcement of immigration laws. Foreign individuals who celebrate the assassination of our citizens while benefiting from American hospitality will be deported.”
This announcement comes as President Trump posthumously conferred the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States, to Kirk on Tuesday. Kirk was fatally shot while giving a speech at Utah Valley University on September 10th.
The six foreign nationals whose visas were revoked by the US State Department on Tuesday hail from Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Mexico, Paraguay, and South Africa, but their identities were not disclosed.
The State Department has been taking such actions shortly after Kirk’s assassination.
Vice President JD Vance and other senior US officials have urged the public to report inappropriate comments made online about Kirk’s assassination.
Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau posted last month, stating, “Our country does not welcome foreign visitors who glorify violence and hatred.”
He added, “Seeing some individuals praise this incident on social media, rationalize it, or downplay it disgusts me. I have instructed our consular officers to take appropriate action. Please inform me of any such comments made by foreigners so that the State Department can protect the American people.”
