United Airlines aircraft returns after engine component falls off.

United Airlines’ Airbus aircraft returned to base after engine parts detached during flight.

According to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Thursday, June 20, the Airbus SE A320 aircraft took off from Bradley International Airport in Hartford, Connecticut on Thursday morning heading to Denver International Airport. The flight crew heard “unusual noise.” The FAA stated it would investigate the incident.

In another statement, United Airlines reported that upon landing, a piece of “soundproofing lining” was found underneath the engine cover on the runway.

Since a series of incidents this year, including issues such as loosened fuselage during flight, wheels falling off after takeoff, and the cabin door of an Alaska Airlines aircraft detaching in January, the Federal Aviation Administration has implemented stricter inspections on the aviation industry.

The United Airlines flight on Thursday carried 124 passengers and 5 crew members.
