On the evening of May 16, an unidentified flying object appeared in the night sky in Urumqi, Xinjiang. Many netizens who witnessed the event described the object as having two fan-shaped parts, with a clear dividing line in the middle, moving at varying speeds, and shining as brightly as the moon.
Netizens from various places in Xinjiang such as Altay, Urumqi, and Ili, captured footage of the unidentified flying object in the night sky on May 16, shining especially bright against the backdrop of the dark night.
Witness xerman from Urumqi shared with Jixmu News that at 10:56 pm that night, he and his friends were on their way back to the city of Urumqi when they suddenly noticed a very bright object in the sky.
He said, “It was almost as bright as the moon at first, we even thought it was the moon, but then it changed shape, becoming circular in the middle with bright spots in a fan shape above and below.”
He continued to say that the object started moving slowly, and they even tried to follow it in their car for a while to see what it was. After a few minutes, the object suddenly accelerated and disappeared within seconds.
Netizen Forest Wolf also mentioned that around 10:50 pm, a flying object appeared in the sky in Urumqi, consisting of two very bright parts with a clear dividing line in the middle. The object started flying slowly at first and then suddenly accelerated before disappearing.
Additionally, netizens in Altay and Ili regions of Xinjiang also captured videos of unidentified flying objects.
Reportedly, Urumqi, Altay, and Ili are hundreds of kilometers apart, but netizens from all three places claimed that the sightings of the unidentified flying object were only minutes apart.
This is the third time in the past 10 days that Xinjiang has witnessed unidentified luminous objects flying in the sky.
On May 6, hundreds of white flashing spots were seen moving continuously in the sky over Urumqi before disappearing. Many netizens captured this phenomenon on camera.
On April 12, several netizens in Xinjiang also shared videos claiming to have seen a spherical unidentified flying object crossing the night sky.
On the afternoon of May 17, staff from the Xinjiang Meteorological Bureau responded that they were not certain about the specifics of the unidentified flying object but ruled out the possibility of it being a meteorological satellite launch, as meteorological satellites are usually difficult to observe with the naked eye.
The frequent appearance of unidentified flying objects in Xinjiang has sparked discussions among netizens. Some speculate, “It could be a drone.” Others question, “Could it be a new type of aircraft or weapon developed by the military?” There are even netizens jokingly suggesting, “It might be an unidentified flying object from aliens arriving on Earth through an extra-dimensional space.”
