Ukrainian Forces Destroy 41 Russian Bombers in One Day

On June 1st, Ukraine delivered a shocking “Children’s Day gift” to Russia with the unprecedented “Operation Spider Web” commenced. Over 40 strategic bombers, including Tu-95, Tu-160 “White Swan,” and Tu-22 Backfire, along with an A-50 AWACS aircraft, were precisely targeted by drones at Russian mainland airports, resulting in nearly half of the Russian Air Force being lost. Ukraine used drones costing only a few hundred dollars to destroy $4 billion worth of air force assets, revolutionizing modern warfare tactics and completely reshaping the limits of imagination.

June 1st being Children’s Day, Ukraine presented Russia with a “Children’s Day gift.” Ukraine deployed drones to launch airstrikes on at least 5 Russian airports, destroying over 40 Russian heavy bombers, including Tu-95, Tu-160 White Swan, and A-50 AWACS aircraft. Footage from the scene showed Russian strategic bombers, such as the Tu-95, being hit with billowing smoke and subsequent damage to other aircraft, with the drones successfully striking multiple targets.

The airstrikes by Ukraine targeted 5 military bases, including Olenya Air Force Base and North Morsesk Base in Murmansk Oblast, Ivanovo Air Force Base in Ivanovo Oblast, Chaykolevo Air Force Base in Leningrad Oblast, and a base in Irkutsk Oblast in the Far East region.

The Belaya Air Force Base near Irkutsk in the Far East region was hit, where multiple Russian strategic bombers were destroyed. This base was the home of the Tu-160 “White Swan” bombers, with 2 reportedly being destroyed. The Tu-160, nicknamed “White Swan” for its sleek design, had a production of 35 units by Russia, 16 remaining, and production had ceased years ago.

Moving on to the scenario at the Olenya Air Force Base in Murmansk Oblast, which is near the Russian Northern Fleet headquarters, it housed Tu-95 and Tu-22 bombers capable of carrying cruise missiles. The base was frequently used for missile attacks on Ukraine since 2022.

After the attack, it was revealed that Russia had lost at least 41 fighter jets, mainly Tu-95s and Tu-22s. The Tu-95, Tu-160, and Tu-22 strategic bombers faced significant losses, impacting the Russian air force’s strategic capabilities.

Ukraine’s long-planned operation, codenamed “Spider Web,” involved pre-assembling drones in Russian territory and deploying them autonomously with AI technology. The remote-controlled drones were equipped with sensors and bombs, targeting Russian strategic bombers with precise strikes, all without manual intervention.
