Typhoon “Danas” the fourth of the year is expected to make landfall along the coast of Zhejiang and Fujian in China tomorrow afternoon to evening on July 8th. This news comes as the China Meteorological Administration issued a blue typhoon warning and a blue rainstorm warning at 10 o’clock today.
Prior to midnight today, Typhoon “Danas” made landfall along the coastal area of Chiayi in Taiwan, weakening from a severe typhoon to a typhoon. Despite the weakening intensity, as of 8 a.m. today, the storm has already caused two deaths in Taiwan, with over 581,000 households experiencing power outages across the province.
According to the Central Meteorological Administration, “Danas” is forecasted to move in a north-northeast direction at a speed of around 15 kilometers per hour, gradually decreasing in strength. By tomorrow morning, the storm is expected to turn towards the southwest, gradually approaching the coastal areas from Taizhou in Zhejiang to Ningde in Fujian, making landfall tomorrow afternoon to evening.
Due to the impact of Typhoon “Danas,” in the next two days, there will be strong winds of 6 to 8 on the Beaufort Scale along the eastern coasts of Guangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang, and Taiwan, with gusts reaching 9 to 10. Fujian, Zhejiang, Guangdong, and other regions will experience heavy rainfall one after another.
In preparation for the typhoon, as of 12 o’clock yesterday, 76 passenger ferry routes along the coast of Fujian were suspended, with 193 passenger ferries ceasing operations. This includes the suspension of four cross-strait “small three links” passenger ferry routes between Xiamen and Jinmen, Quanzhou and Kinmen, Lianjiang and Matsu, and Huangqi and Matsu. Additionally, 104 water engineering projects along the Fujian coast have been halted. Fishing vessels in major fishing grounds in Fujian, aquaculture personnel, offshore fishing boats, and related personnel have all been evacuated.
Furthermore, the China Railway Nanchang Group Co., Ltd. initiated a level three emergency response for flood and typhoon prevention at 18:00 yesterday. Today, passenger trains on several lines including the Fuping Railway from Fuzhou South to Pingtan, the Wenfu Railway from Fuding to Fuzhou South, and the Quning Railway from Songxi to Ningde have been suspended.
According to the medium-term forecast released by the Central Meteorological Administration, over the next 10 days, there is a possibility of 1 to 2 typhoons forming in the northwest Pacific.
