In the latest incident involving Xiaomi SU7, a tragic car accident occurred. Recently, a netizen posted online claiming that in Xuwen Qujie Town, Zhanjiang, Guangdong, a Xiaomi SU7 collided with two teenagers, and the driver fled the scene, leaving the car to catch fire and burn. The two teenagers died on the spot.
According to reports from Zhujiang News, local residents mentioned that the incident took place on the evening of Qingming Festival, with a section of the road from Qujie Pineapple Market to the Baltic Gate temporarily closed. Several videos suspected to be remnants of the burnt vehicle were circulating within local WeChat groups, but they seem to have been removed from public platforms.
On April 11th, the Xuwen County Public Security Bureau in Zhanjiang, Guangdong reported that the accident happened around 5 o’clock on April 5th. A 25-year-old driver named Chen collided with an electric bicycle on the opposite lane while driving through the Hua Hai Farm Team 14 Road in Qujie Town, Xuwen County. This collision led to the immediate death of two passengers on the electric bicycle, while the car caught fire and burned. After the accident, Chen fled the scene but later turned himself in. The case is currently under investigation.
In response to this incident, Xiaomi Motors posted on Weibo stating that based on initial investigations, the fire was caused by the severe squeeze and deformation of the lithium batteries in the electric two-wheeler after the collision, which subsequently ignited the vehicle.
Recently, there have been multiple accidents involving Xiaomi Motors. Prior to this incident, on the night of March 29th, a Xiaomi SU7 crashed into a guardrail and caught fire on the Deshang Expressway in Tongling, Anhui, resulting in the tragic deaths of three female university students.
This series of tragedies involving Xiaomi vehicles has raised concerns and highlights the importance of road safety and responsible driving practices for all motorists.
