Two mothers with the same name give birth to twin sons at the same hospital simultaneously.

Two mothers with the same name met in the maternity ward of a hospital and each gave birth to a set of twin boys a day apart, describing their friendship as “fate.”

31-year-old Rebecca Louise Williams and 27-year-old Rebecca Louise Mcloughlin crossed paths at Princess Royal Hospital in Telford, Shropshire, England, after responding to someone calling out “Rebecca.”

Both had seen each other during prenatal check-ups every three weeks for about six months, without exchanging words.

However, when the hospital placed their beds side by side on February 7, the soon-to-be mothers discovered that their commonality went beyond their names.

Rebecca Williams, also known as Becky, gave birth at 12:59 pm and 1:12 pm on February 8 to Tommy weighing 4 pounds 6 ounces and Taylor weighing 5 pounds 1 ounce.

At the same time, Rebecca Mcloughlin, also known as Becks, underwent a cesarean section at 12:11 pm and 12:12 pm on February 9, delivering Lewis weighing 4 pounds 6 ounces and Roman weighing 4 pounds 5 ounces.

In the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Lewis was placed next to Taylor, and Roman next to Tommy, bringing the mothers together once again.

Since their chance encounter, the moms say they have become best friends and feel like their friendship was “destined.”

“This is so crazy, so cute,” said Williams, who works as a barista in Telford. “It’s like fate. I really feel like she was meant to be in my life.”

The mom of two more children, 10-year-old Ruby and 7-year-old Riley, shared that she gets along well with Mcloughlin, and their personalities mesh.

“It’s never awkward,” she said. “You hardly ever come across other twins, let alone boys the same age living so close to each other.”

“I think we will be lifelong friends – watching them grow up together is just so cute.”

Assistant teacher Mcloughlin from Newport, Shropshire, echoed this sentiment.

“We have so many coincidental similarities, it’s lovely and a bit scary,” she said. “When we met, it felt like I had known her for a long time; no one would think we had just met recently.”

The boys spent a week and a half together in the NICU, where nurses cared for them in groups of four, referring to them as “Rebecca’s twins” or “Rebecca’s boys.”

Mcloughlin brought her twins home on February 20, while Williams took her twins home four weeks later on March 7.

The two mothers continue to stay in touch, exchanging texts and meeting at least once a week. Now that the boys are a bit older, they plan to meet more frequently.

Taylor and Lewis hug tightly each time they meet, and all four boys enjoy putting their hands together.

“It’s really cute. We believe they understand each other because they spent a long time together in the hospital,” Mcloughlin said. “They have a very strong bond – even with their own siblings.”

The mothers plan joint birthday parties and have travel plans as both consider July their birthing month.

“It’s really fun to have Becky as a friend, someone who has experienced what I have is really special – someone who truly understands what it feels like to raise twins every day, we constantly laugh about the same things,” Mcloughlin said.
