On the morning of January 2, a strong 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck Yongning County in Yinchuan City, Ningxia. Later that afternoon, another earthquake of 4.6 magnitude hit the Jinfeng District of Yinchuan City. The earthquake caused visible damage to well-known schools in the area, with cracks appearing in classroom walls and wall plaster peeling off. Some residents expressed that at the beginning of the new year, Yinchuan, Ningxia went through an unexpected “double earthquake test”.

In the afternoon of the same day, another earthquake struck Yinchuan City. The China Earthquake Administration measured that at 16:43 on the 2nd, a 4.6 magnitude earthquake hit the Jinfeng District of Yinchuan City, with a depth of 10 kilometers.

State media reported that after the earthquake in the afternoon of the 2nd, the China Railway Lanzhou Bureau Group Corporation promptly stopped trains on affected routes due to the earthquake and sealed off relevant sections.

Trains were stopped on the Xi Da Tan to Da Ba section of the Bao Lan Line, and Mei Huajing to Yinchuan South section of the Ding Yin Line; speed restrictions were imposed on the Bai Shigang to Wu Zhong section of the Yin Xi High Speed Rail, and the He Dong Airport to Hong Sibao North section of the Yin Lan High Speed Rail; and the Yinchuan High-Speed Field to Lingwu North section of the Yin Lan High-Speed Rail was blocked.
