Two cold fronts approaching, overview of Taiwan’s weather for the next week.

Taiwan’s Central Weather Bureau announced on April 26 that there will be two frontal systems affecting Taiwan in the coming week, leading to unstable weather conditions. Residents are advised to clear drainage channels as convective activity may bring heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong gusts. It is important to stay alert to weather changes and prioritize safety when going outdoors.

On April 26, the Central Weather Bureau posted on Facebook that on April 27, the frontal system will bring brief showers or thunderstorms to the western and northeastern regions with the possibility of localized heavy rain. The central and southern regions may also experience localized downpours. Additionally, other areas can expect brief showers or thunderstorms, with the eastern region having a chance of more substantial rainfall.

The frontal system will continue to impact Taiwan from the evening of April 27 to April 28, gradually weakening. The northern and northeastern regions may experience brief showers or thunderstorms with the chance of localized heavy rain. Other areas can also expect scattered brief showers or thunderstorms, with longer breaks in rainfall.

On April 29, a southwest to southerly wind will bring relatively stable and humid conditions, with less moisture in the air. However, the northern-central region may still experience localized brief showers, and the rest of the island may have cloudy skies with localized afternoon thunder showers in the northeastern and eastern regions, as well as in mountainous areas.

Another frontal system will approach on April 30, bringing localized brief showers to the northern-central, northeastern, and eastern regions, and isolated showers to other areas. In the afternoon, mountainous regions across the island may experience localized brief thunder showers. May 1 and 2 will see another frontal system affecting the western and northeastern regions with brief showers or thunderstorms, and scattered brief showers or thunderstorms elsewhere, with a chance of localized heavy rain in the west. From May 3 to 5, the eastern regions may see localized brief showers, with localized brief thunder showers in the western regions during the afternoons.

Additionally, due to frequent aftershocks and the increased likelihood of rainfall in mountainous areas, unnecessary travel to these regions should be avoided. Caution should be exercised when traveling through mountainous areas, and safety measures should be taken to prevent accidents caused by loose soil, landslides, collapses, or falling rocks. Prioritizing personal safety is essential in these conditions.
