Two Chairs of China Democracy Party Imprisoned, Overseas Members Urge CCP to Release

This year marks the 26th anniversary of the founding of the China Democracy Party. On June 23, overseas party members held protests at the State Capitol in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and in various locations around the world, calling for the immediate release of the two founding chairmen – Wang Bingzhang and Qin Yongmin.

Since the establishment of the China Democracy Party on June 25, 1998, more than 300 party members have been detained and sentenced to a total of over 1000 years in prison. Individuals such as Xu Guang, sentenced to 4 years for “provocation and causing trouble,” Zhu Yufu sentenced to a total of 16 years after three imprisonments, and Mao Qingxiang sentenced to 8 years for “subverting state power” are just a few examples. The brutal suppression by the Chinese Communist Party has not deterred members of the China Democracy Party from pursuing constitutional democracy. They continue to persevere within China, facing various hardships.

One of the founding members of the China Democracy Party and honorary chairman, Dr. Wang Bingzhang, was abducted by the Chinese authorities in Vietnam in 2002 and sentenced to life imprisonment upon being brought back to China. He has been detained for 22 years and suffered from various illnesses due to persecution but has not compromised with the CCP. Wang Bingzhang is currently the longest-serving political prisoner under a life sentence by the CCP.

Another founding member of the China Democracy Party, Qin Yongmin, has been subjected to over 36 years of arrest, persecution, and imprisonment by the CCP. His most recent sentence was in 2018, with a 13-year prison term.

Wang Bingzhang’s sister, Wang Yuhua, wrote an appeal letter that was played during the activities. She mentioned not being allowed to visit Wang Bingzhang since 2013. She expressed gratitude for the support and emphasized the harsh treatment her brother has endured, urging continued attention and efforts for his release.

Overseas China Democracy Party members believe the prolonged suffering and torture endured by the two founding members in prison call for global support and attention to rescue the victims of the China Democracy Party. They affirm their commitment to advocating for human rights and freedom.

Representatives from the Iceland China Democracy Party voiced a strong message during the activities, expressing that they refuse to stay silent in the face of human rights abuses and oppression by the CCP. They called for the immediate release of Wang Bingzhang and Qin Yongmin and other political prisoners.

The China Democracy Party, formed by Chinese intellectuals and social activists, represents a significant force in the history of China’s democracy movement, having been relentlessly persecuted by the CCP. Despite the strict control within China, there are many secret party members who stand by the principles of democracy and freedom.

The China Democracy Party headquarters executive, Jielijian, urged the CCP to cease its persecution of the party members and demanded the release of Qin Yongmin, Wang Bingzhang, and others. He emphasized the resolve to hold the CCP accountable for the atrocities committed against party members and their families.

Moving forward, the China Democracy Party plans to establish a youth parliamentary group to promote human rights legislation. They aim to expose aggressors and perpetrators, utilizing technology and international collaboration to advocate for the end of the CCP regime and the democratization of China.

Wang Bingzhang and Qin Yongmin, both prominent figures in the China Democracy Party, have played critical roles in the country’s democracy movement. Their unwavering dedication to freedom and justice despite enduring severe persecution signifies hope for the future of democracy in China.

Legacy of the China Democracy Party continues to inspire hope for a democratic China, where political rights and freedoms are respected. The perseverance and commitment of party members serve as a beacon of light in the struggle for democracy in China.
