On Saturday, Indonesian authorities are currently hunting down two Australian gunmen who are suspected of shooting dead an Australian tourist and seriously injuring another male tourist in a villa in the Bali vacation resort.
According to CNN, the shooting incident occurred just after midnight on Friday at Villa Casa Santisya near Manggu Beach in the Badung district. The incident resulted in the death of 32-year-old Melbourne tourist Zivan Radmanovic. The second victim, a 34-year-old also from Melbourne, was assaulted. Badung District Police Chief Arif Batubara stated that the motive for the crime is still uncertain, and investigations are ongoing. The two Australians were urgently taken to a hospital in Denpasar, the provincial capital.
At the time of the shooting, the villa had only three rooms with a total of five guests. Batubara mentioned that the wives of the two victims and another foreign tourist were also present at the scene. Radmanovic was shot in the bathroom, where police found 17 shell casings and two intact bullets.
At least three witnesses inside the villa informed investigators that the two gunmen arrived on motorcycles around midnight, one wearing an orange jacket and a dark helmet, and the other in a dark green jacket with a black mask and dark helmet.
Radmanovic’s wife, 30-year-old Gourdeas Jazmyn, recounted to the police that she was startled awake by her husband’s screams, then hid under a blanket upon hearing multiple gunshots. Later, she discovered her husband’s body and the injured Australian, whose wife also testified to seeing the attackers.
According to the news website Detik.com, Bali police spokesman Ariasandy stated that the police are currently pursuing the two suspects. Ariasandy mentioned that witnesses provided descriptions of the two suspects fleeing on motorcycles from the scene and overheard them speaking English with an Australian accent.
Batubara stated that authorities have contacted the Australian Consulate General in Bali, and the autopsies are pending the consent of the victims’ families for further investigation.
