Trump to Meet Netanyahu at the Sea of Galilee Resort

Former US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday (July 23) that he will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu later this week at Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social: “Looking forward to welcoming Bibi Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.”

Using Netanyahu’s nickname in the post, Trump announced that he will host this old friend at his home.

“In my first term, we achieved peace and stability in the region, even signing the historic Abraham Accords – we will once again achieve peace and stability,” Trump continued, “As I have said in recent weeks discussing with President Zelensky and other world leaders, my agenda of seeking peace through strength will show the world that these terrible, deadly wars and violent conflicts must end.”

At the time Trump made this announcement, Netanyahu was visiting the US. He arrived in Washington DC on Monday and will be meeting with senior US officials in the coming days, with a speech scheduled at a Joint Session of Congress on Wednesday. On Friday, he will head to Florida to meet Trump, marking their first meeting since Trump left office.

According to Politico, Netanyahu had requested a face-to-face conversation with Trump during his visit to the US this week.

Previously, Trump revealed that he had a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky last Friday. Just over ten days ago, he also held meetings with other world leaders like Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who was in the US to attend the NATO summit.

Netanyahu’s visit to the US comes at a time when Israel is engaged in conflict with Hamas in the Gaza Strip. He is weighing options for reaching a ceasefire agreement with Hamas to end the war. As Trump officially received the Republican presidential nomination at last week’s Republican National Convention, some world leaders, including Netanyahu, are starting to engage with him.

US Vice President and Senate Majority Leader Kamala Harris will not attend Netanyahu’s speech at the US Congress, as she is scheduled to participate in a pre-arranged event in Indiana.
