On Wednesday, July 2nd, President Trump praised the decline in the number of individuals attempting to illegally enter the United States in June, stating that it had reached a historic low and no illegal immigrants were released into the country. He commended the outstanding performance of border enforcement personnel in successfully safeguarding the nation’s borders and called on the Republican Party to pass the “Big and Beautiful Act” to support strengthened border control.
The latest data from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) revealed that in the entire month of June, CBP intercepted illegal immigrants only 25,243 times across the country, with a total of 6,070 individuals apprehended, and none were released into the country.
Trump expressed on his media platform “Truth Social”: “Congratulations, America! The border statistics for June are out, once again setting a record low in U.S. history. The Border Patrol reports no illegal immigrants were released into the country. Additionally, there were only 25,243 ‘encounters’ (arrests, turn-backs, detentions, or transfers to other authorities) nationwide by the CBP throughout June, a staggering number, particularly compared to the tens of thousands encountered daily during the Biden administration.”
Trump stated that the current border security situation in the United States is strong and must be maintained, urging the Republican Party to pass the “Big and Beautiful Act” to enhance border control. He criticized radical leftist judges trying to loosen border controls, ignoring the decisions of the Supreme Court, warning that such actions could turn the U.S. into a third-world country.
“The U.S. border is safe and secure, known worldwide for this fact,” Trump said. “The Border Patrol, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and CBP personnel have performed exceptionally, but they need more support and are counting on Republicans to accomplish this mission!”
Tom Homan, the former Acting Director of ICE, posted on X that the total number of illegal border crossings intercepted by the Southwest Border Patrol in June was 6,070 individuals. He remarked, “This is fewer than the daily encounter numbers during the Biden administration’s tenure. In fact, on many days during the Biden administration, the daily encounter numbers exceeded this total by more than double.”
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released a press statement on Wednesday, noting that the number of illegal border crossing interceptions and arrests in June decreased by 12% from the lowest recorded in February, and an 89% reduction from the average monthly values from 2021 to 2024. The number of individuals illegally crossing the border and not caught by the Border Patrol decreased by 90% compared to the same period last year.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem expressed on X platform that President Trump had created the “safest border in American history.”
