President Trump announced on Thursday that he will host an ultimate fighting championship (UFC) on the White House lawn next year as part of the celebrations for America’s 250th anniversary. The event is expected to attract over 20,000 spectators, with his friend, UFC President Dana White, leading the venue setup and execution.
During a speech at the Iowa State Fair, President Trump unveiled this plan to bring UFC matches to the White House, sparking immediate attention and excitement.
“We will have special events at every national park, battlefield, and historic site to commemorate ‘America250’,” said Trump. “I even think we’ll have a UFC match.”
“We will host a UFC match on the White House lawn,” Trump said. “There is plenty of space there, and we will set up a small arena – well, Dana [White] will handle the planning… We will host a full UFC championship fight, expecting to draw 20,000 to 25,000 spectators, as part of the celebration of America’s 250th independence.”
President Trump only disclosed that the event is planned to be held on the White House lawn, and it remains unclear if the necessary permits and logistical planning have been secured in Washington, D.C.
Trump is known in the mixed martial arts world as the “Combatant in Chief” and shares a close relationship with UFC President Dana White, considering UFC fans as key supporters.
President Trump frequently attends UFC matches, with his most recent appearance being in June at a match in New Jersey. On that day, he entered the venue alongside White, receiving a warm welcome from the audience. Trump walked around the arena, showcasing his signature dance moves, and greeted UFC fans before finally taking his seat next to the boxing ring.
