Trump: Military Can Be Used to Maintain Order on Election Day if Necessary

Former President Donald Trump, during an interview with Maria Bartiromo on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” on Sunday, October 13th, was asked about the potential for chaos on Election Day. Trump responded, saying, “No, no, it won’t come from the people voting for Trump.”

He explained that if there were troubles on Election Day, the troublemakers wouldn’t even come from “the people that have come in” (referring to illegal immigrants, etc.). Trump believed that the enemies come from “within.”

Furthermore, Trump elaborated, “I think the bigger problem is from people within, we have some sick people, radical-left lunatics…. If necessary, the National Guard should be able to handle it easily, and if really necessary, the military too.”

Despite the Insurrection Act enacted in 1807 during Thomas Jefferson’s presidency, giving the President the authority to deploy the National Guard and military to combat rebellion or other disturbances, using the military on Election Day is unprecedented. Trump had previously warned during his term as President that he would invoke the Insurrection Act to address the protests following George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis at the hands of the police, but ultimately did not do so.

Bartiromo also mentioned during the interview that President Biden had expressed uncertainty about the peaceful transition of power, to which Trump denied, stating that Biden “doesn’t know what’s happening.”

Later in the interview, Trump reiterated his belief that the “enemy from within” is more dangerous than foreign adversaries, such as the CCP or Russia.

This interview took place weeks before the election, with Trump and his campaign team working diligently to make as much progress as possible in battleground states that could potentially determine the election outcome.

Responding to Trump’s interview on Sunday, the Harris campaign team stated that these remarks should “raise awareness for every American who cares about their freedom and safety.”
