On Sunday evening, December 7th, President Trump and First Lady Melania held hands as they appeared at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, hosting the 48th Annual Kennedy Center Honors for the first time as President. The prestigious award this year honored five outstanding artists including American country music superstar George Strait, American rock band KISS, British actor and Tony Award winner Michael Crawford, Grammy Award winner and disco pioneer Gloria Gaynor, and Hollywood superstar and box office giant Sylvester Stallone.
On that evening, President Trump wore a classic black tuxedo with a bow tie, while Melania wore a high-end black floor-length gown, the two walked hand in hand on the red carpet, frequently smiling and waving at the media.
Among the attendees were Trump’s younger daughter Tiffany Trump, Secretary of Defense Pete Heggseth, Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum, Attorney General Pam Bondi, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, and many other prominent figures from the American entertainment industry, making it a star-studded and unprecedented event.
The Kennedy Center Honors, established in 1978, aims to recognize artists who have made outstanding contributions to American culture throughout their lifetime. Past honorees have spanned fields such as drama, dance, music, television, and film. The awards ceremony takes place at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on the first weekend of December each year, with the recorded event broadcasted during the Christmas holiday season.
