Trump: Canada becomes the 51st state, eligible to join the “Golden Dome” for free

On Tuesday (May 27), President Trump revealed that Canada has expressed interest in joining the United States’ “Golden Dome” missile defense program. Trump stated that if Canada is willing to become the 51st state of the United States, they could join the system for free.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Canada really wants to join our excellent Golden Dome System. I told Canada, if they (for the U.S.) still remain an independent and unfair country, then they will have to pay 61 billion dollars; but if they become our beloved 51st state, the cost will be zero dollars.”

Trump added, “They are considering this proposal!”

Last week, Trump announced the launch of the “Golden Dome” missile defense program, aimed at establishing a multi-layer defense system covering space and ground to detect, track, and potentially intercept incoming ballistic missiles to counter threats from China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, and others.

Trump pointed out that the program is expected to be “fully operational” within three years, with a total cost of 175 billion dollars, and Canada will also be included in its security network.

As of the deadline, Canada has not responded to Trump’s post. However, Canadian Prime Minister and Liberal Party leader Mark Carney has repeatedly emphasized that Canada will not join the United States under any circumstances.
