Trump Appoints Cabot as National Intelligence Director

On Wednesday, November 13, following his visit to the White House, U.S. President-elect Trump (Trump) announced more personnel appointments. He declared in a statement that former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard will be appointed as the Director of National Intelligence in the new administration.

“For over twenty years, Tulsi has been fighting for our country’s freedom and for all Americans. As a former Democratic presidential nominee, she has received broad support from both parties—she is now a proud Republican! I know Tulsi will bring the fearless spirit from her outstanding career to our intelligence community, defending our constitutional rights and achieving peace through strength. Tulsi will make us all proud!” Trump said in a statement.

Gabbard played a significant role in Trump’s campaign. She left the Democratic Party in 2022. In the 2020 presidential election, she was one of several challengers to Hillary Clinton. The two had notable confrontations during the Democratic primary debates, where Gabbard proved to be a strong competitor against Clinton.

Gabbard was once considered a potential running mate for Trump. In October of this year, she spoke at a campaign rally held by Trump in Greensboro, North Carolina, announcing her decision to join the Republican Party.

At the time, Gabbard explained that she made this decision because the Republican Party welcomes “independent-minded individuals” like her who uphold the U.S. Constitution and freedom.

In February of this year, Gabbard praised Trump as a “fighter” during her speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

“His (Trump’s) strength and resilience can only come from one place… his genuine love and concern for the future of our country,” she said.
