On Thursday, President Trump announced at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., that he would establish a Faith Office in the White House and directed the Justice Department to create a special task force to protect Christians from religious discrimination.
The event took place in two locations, one at the U.S. Capitol and the other at the Washington Hilton Hotel. Trump stated during the event, “While I am in the White House, we will protect Christians in our schools, military, government, workplaces, hospitals, and public squares. We will unite our nation to become a country blessed by God, where everyone enjoys freedom and justice.”
During the breakfast held at the Hilton hotel, Trump discussed the assassination attempt against him on July 13, 2024, in Butler, Pennsylvania. He said, “Look at me. I am standing in front of you today. I shouldn’t be here. Many people say I shouldn’t be here.” He added, “God saved me,” garnering applause.
President Trump mentioned that the newly established task force’s mission is to immediately stop all forms of anti-Christian goals and discrimination within the federal government, including the Justice Department, Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and other federal agencies.
He announced that he would sign an executive order later on Thursday and direct Attorney General Bondi to “vigorously prosecute anti-Christian violence and destruction in our society and make every effort to defend the rights of Christians and religious believers nationwide.”
Trump also revealed his plan to establish a new Faith Office within the White House. “Without religious freedom, we do not have a free country,” he declared.
