Trump and Harris intensify war of words in final stage of election campaign

The United States presidential election is set to take place on November 5th, with the competition between Trump and Harris intensifying in key swing states. As the two camps engage in fierce battles, the attacks between them are escalating.

Less than two weeks away from the election, Harris has refocused on Biden’s campaign strategy, putting the spotlight on “Trump” and “his threat to democracy.”

According to the analysis by the Associated Press, for Harris, this is a gamble aimed at motivating undecided voters who are fearful of Trump, hoping they will support her in the final days. She must combine democratic theories and philosophical issues with concrete issues that ordinary people care about in their daily lives to make it easier for voters to understand and feel the impact of democracy on their lives, thereby strengthening their support.

Analysis indicates that from Harris’s recent public speeches, it is evident that she increasingly sees Trump as a threat to existence and is trying to reach out to anxious Republicans in an attempt to gain support.

During a rally with celebrities in Georgia on the 24th, Harris said, “The future is either Donald Trump there incessantly talking about his enemies list, or me working for you, checking off my to-do list, and you have the power to make that choice.”

In his speech during the 2022 midterm elections, Biden mentioned that choosing Republicans could further enhance Trump’s influence, thus threatening America’s democratic system. Biden stated, “I hope you consider the future of democracy as a significant factor and decide your vote based on that.”

According to data from VoteCast by the Associated Press, the Democratic party performed better than expected in the midterm elections two years ago, with about 40% of voters indicating that the future of American democracy is a major consideration when voting. Among Democratic voters, this proportion is around 60%.

Democratic political consultant Faiz Shakir stated that attacking Trump has been a “proven tactic” for years, but he has doubts about whether a similar approach should be taken this year.

“In my view, they have abandoned the strategy of persuading voters, which is telling people about some new or different views of Harris. Instead, we want you to remember the worst side of Trump,” Shakir said.

Harris gave a surprising speech in Washington this week, launching a brief and sharp attack on Trump. She criticized Trump in her speech as “a fascist who craves unrestrained power and commands a loyal army.”

On Tuesday, at the Democratic party headquarters in New Hampshire, Biden said, “We need to lock him (Trump) up.” Trump faces a total of 91 charges in four criminal cases, with the most serious charge potentially leading him to 20 years of imprisonment. If sentenced cumulatively, Trump could face several hundred years in prison. With all the charges combined, the prison time he faces exceeds 700 years.

Trump has denied these charges and has filed appeals.

Trump’s national press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, stated that Harris’s recent comments indicate that “the situation is becoming increasingly unfavorable for her.” Leavitt pointed out, “That’s why Harris has to adopt the Democratic party’s strategy of attacking Trump over the years. Unfortunately, despite using old and tiring lies, Trump remains more popular than ever since 2016.”

Gallup’s polls show that Trump’s approval ratings have been relatively stable over the past few years. Despite dropping to 36% after the events of January 6th, his approval rating climbed to 46% last month. Harris’s approval rating last month was 44%.

Faced with Harris’s words, Trump has not hesitated to call her a “crazy woman” and “the worst person ever.”

Conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt asked Trump on his show on Thursday, “If Harris somehow wins the election, she will have to deal with Xi Jinping. How do you think Xi Jinping would treat her?”

Trump responded that if Harris were elected President of the United States, the Chinese leader would treat her “like a baby.”

“He will quickly take away all the candies. She won’t know what hit her. It will be like a grandmaster playing against a beginner,” Trump continued.

Regarding Harris’s previous criticisms of him being “increasingly mentally deranged and unstable,” as well as calling Trump a “fascist” at a CNN town hall, during an interview with Hewitt, Trump stated that he watched Harris’s performance and described her as “just like a child.”
