On April 25th, the finale of the popular drama “Wuyou Du” starring mainland Chinese actors Ren Jialun and Song Zuer, which aired two years ago, was broadcasted. Some netizens noticed that in the credits of the drama, the name of the actress Xia Yidan, who played the role of Jili’s doppelganger, was marked with a box, following the industry convention indicating that the actor has passed away. It was later revealed that she had passed away in 2023 at the age of 24.
Public records show that “Wuyou Du” started filming on June 29, 2022 and announced its completion on November 7, 2022. Xia Yidan, a Uyghur from Xinjiang, was born in 1999 and played one of the doppelgangers of Jili in the second unit “Bi Yu Hui Chun” of “Wuyou Du”.
Who would have thought that this 36-episode costume drama, shelved for two years, would premiere on April 12th this year on iQIYI. Some netizens were shocked to discover that Xia Yidan’s name was framed in the credits at the end of the drama. This meant that the 24-year-old actress had quietly passed away before this drama finally went online and met the audience.
Subsequently, the media reported that Xia Yidan’s friends mourned her on August 19, 2023, saying, “Some promises really become distant, sister over there should stay strong or be happy.” Another friend published an article on August 13, 2024, commemorating the first anniversary of Xia Yidan’s passing, revealing that she passed away on August 13, 2023.
Upon further investigation, Xia Yidan’s last social media activity was in July 2023, where she appeared cheerful and in good spirits. It is evident that her passing had no signs or warnings. There was no obituary, no media coverage, and even the encyclopedia information remains unchanged. Hence, speculation on the cause of her death has arisen: some say it was a car accident, some mention depression, while others suggest a heart attack… Some individuals in the comment section of social media responded with “It’s a secret,” indicating that Xia Yidan’s cause of death “cannot be disclosed.”
Despite lingering doubts about the side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine among the public, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) continues to cover up: first, the number of deaths from the pandemic over the past three years; second, following the lifting of restrictions, the authorities ordered that anyone who died from a COVID-19 infection must state other reasons for their death, not related to the pandemic.
Many mainland Chinese people have disclosed on social media that in recent years, there has been a surge in sudden deaths among acquaintances and loved ones. Of particular concern is the significant number of young artists who have passed away this year, including the 48-year-old Taiwanese artist Da S (Dee Hsu) who bid farewell to the world, the late gold song king Fang Datong who passed away at the age of 41, mainland Chinese extra actor Liang Youcheng who was only 27 years old; and actor Quan Le, who played a role in the movie “Zhou Chu Chu San Hai”, who passed away at the age of 32, and many more.
