On the morning of May 21st, a small sedan suddenly crashed into pedestrians in Longnv Town, Wusheng County, Sichuan Province, causing the death of 5 people. The moment of the vehicle hitting the pedestrians was captured on camera, with some individuals even being thrown into the air.

The video footage circulated on mainland Chinese social media on the 21st showed a small sedan speeding up on the road in Longnv Town, Wusheng County, Sichuan Province, and crashing into pedestrians. In an instant, the pedestrians were either knocked to the ground or sent flying by the impact.

According to eyewitnesses on the scene, around 7 a.m., they saw two men and a woman lying on the ground at the location of the accident, with the vehicle severely damaged. One of the witnesses said, “They were waiting on the roadside for the bus to go to the market and then got hit.”

Reports from Netease mentioned that many villagers were heading into the city by car at the time of the accident. One eyewitness waiting for the bus revealed that among the deceased, 4 were men and 1 was a woman, including an elderly man, an elderly woman, and a young person.

The Wusheng County Public Security Bureau announced that around 7 a.m. on the 21st, a 52-year-old man named Sun driving a small sedan collided with five people on the road at 463km+400m on G350 line in Longnv Town, Wusheng County, resulting in the instant death of 2 people and 3 others succumbing to injuries after failed medical rescue. The cause of the accident remains unclear.

Netizens commented, “People were just waiting there for the bus to go to the market and ended up being caught in this unexpected disaster, the scene was too tragic.” “Jiangxi Guixi… Hunan Chenzhou… now Sichuan Wusheng…” “My dad said the scene was even more terrifying.”

Another netizen said, “That road was bound to have problems sooner or later. There are no traffic lights (temporary signal lights placed there as decorations, cars still run red lights), no surveillance. The road is fixed, cars drive very fast, mostly at speeds of 80, 90, or even over 100 yards, and most importantly, there are no street lights, so how could there not be problems.”

The mention of Jiangxi Guixi and Hunan Chenzhou by netizens refers to violent incidents that occurred in both places on May 20th.

On the evening of May 20th, a violent incident occurred in a park in the Suxian District of Chenzhou, Hunan. Authorities reported 3 deaths and 2 injuries. However, information circulating on mainland Chinese social media claimed that the assailant injured over a dozen people. On the same day at noon, a stabbing incident took place at a primary school in Guixi, Yingtan, Jiangxi, where a woman wielding a knife attacked multiple students. Reports indicated that the perpetrator was a relative of a teacher at the school. Authorities stated at least 2 deaths and 10 injuries.
