Toyota Motor Corporation has announced the recall of over 126,000 Toyota Tundra and Lexus vehicles due to potential engine issues that could lead to collisions.
The Japanese automotive giant stated on the website of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the United States that they are recalling Toyota Tundra models from 2022 to 2024 and Lexus LX models from 2022 to 2024 equipped with the V35A engine, as well as the 2024 Lexus GX.
During the manufacturing process, debris may not have been properly cleared from the engine, which could result in main bearing failure, leading to engine stalling and loss of propulsion, thereby increasing the risk of collisions.
The vehicles being recalled primarily consist of Toyota Tundra models from 2022 to 2024. Toyota mentioned that remedial measures are currently under review. Once a repair solution is determined, it will be provided free of charge. The company plans to send interim letters by December 22, 2025, informing owners of the safety risks. More letters will follow once the final remedy is in place. Vehicle owners can contact Toyota’s customer service hotline at 1-800-331-4331 for further information. The recall number for the Toyota Tundra is 25TB14 and 25TA14, and for Lexus models, it is 25LB07 and 25LA07.
In their recall announcement, Toyota states that a total of 126,691 vehicles are being recalled, including:
• Toyota Tundra 2022-2024: 113,079 vehicles;
• Lexus LX 2022-2024: 9,895 vehicles;
• Lexus GX 2024: 3,717 vehicles.
Apart from engine issues, Toyota recently recalled 1.02 million vehicles in the United States due to defective rear-view cameras. According to a statement from the NHTSA on November 5th, the recall involves Toyota and Lexus models from 2022 to 2026, including Camry, Highlander, RAV4, Prius, and Lexus RX, TX, LS, GX, NX, and LX, as well as the Subaru Solterra featuring the Panoramic View Monitor. Toyota mentioned that software errors could cause the camera image to freeze or go blank while reversing.
In addition to Toyota, Kia Motors is also recalling a small number of vehicles – 45 Kia Telluride 2025 models and Kia Sorento 2026 models – due to incorrect spare tires. Using the wrong tire can affect the traction control and anti-lock braking systems. Dealers will resolve this issue by installing the correct size spare tires.
Although vehicle recall repairs are free, millions of people miss recall notices every year, driving vehicles that should have been recalled without being aware of the situation.
