In Tokyo’s Minato Ward, this evening (June 14), a Chinese male student in his 30s studying abroad attacked another Chinese male student in his 20s with a knife inside a logistic company bus carrying over 20 people. Police arrived at the scene and arrested the perpetrator on suspicion of attempted murder.
According to a report by Japan’s Asahi TV station, around 5:30 pm local time (4:30 pm Taiwan time) today, multiple people dialed the emergency number 110 to report that someone was wielding a knife inside the bus and that a man was being attacked.
Authorities in Japan stated that the bus, which had more than 20 passengers onboard, witnessed the older Chinese male student stabbing the younger Chinese male student in the face, neck, and abdomen with a knife resembling a kitchen knife with a blade approximately 15 centimeters long.
The bus is used by a logistics company to transport employees. It appears that both the victim and the perpetrator knew each other. The injured individual has been rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment, yet the extent of the injuries remains unclear. Reportedly, the victim was conscious and able to speak when taken to the hospital.
The perpetrator, who attacked with the knife, was arrested by the responding police on the spot on suspicion of attempted murder. The crime scene is only a few hundred meters away from JR Takanawa Gateway Station. Japanese authorities speculate that there may have been some friction between the two individuals and are conducting a detailed investigation into the incident.
