Tianjin female student beaten by principal and seven others, parents detained for seeking justice.

Recently, Ms. Liu from Tianjin posted a video to expose the mistreatment of her 15-year-old daughter at Dagang No. 10 Middle School in Binhai New Area, Tianjin. Her daughter was physically assaulted by seven teachers, including the principal, for reporting the teachers’ illegal operation of private tutoring classes. Despite the incident, the police did not file a case, and the education bureau advised her daughter to take a break from school. When the parents sought justice for their daughter, they were detained during their advocacy efforts.

In the video, Liu mentioned that on March 15, her daughter was summoned to the school secretary’s office during the fourth period and was brutally beaten by several teachers, including the principal, leaving her with visible injuries. Despite reporting the incident for the past seven months, no action has been taken.

On October 24, Liu revealed that when she returned home from work at 6:30 pm, she found her daughter covered in bloodstains with a cut on her head, multiple bruises and marks on her body. Her daughter explained that she was assaulted at school.

Liu stated that the male principal used a leather belt to strike the students and the teachers warned her daughter not to disclose the incident to parents or classmates.

According to the medical certificate provided by Liu, her daughter suffered head injuries, scalp abrasions, facial cuts, soft tissue injuries on the waist and back, as well as knees.

Upon reporting the incident to the authorities, the police refused to take action, claiming that there was no evidence of illegal activities since there were no surveillance cameras in the secretary’s office. Liu criticized the police for protecting the school instead of addressing the issue.

In response, Liu visited the National Petition Bureau in Beijing twice, but local authorities intercepted her each time. When she confronted the school leaders at the school gate, she was detained by the police twice, one detention lasting for 5 days and the other for 7 days.

She mentioned that her daughter’s mental health deteriorated following the assault, as she struggled to sleep even until 11 pm.

In April, Mr. Gao, Liu’s husband, reported online that their daughter had faced difficulties at Dagang No. 10 Middle School, due to being forced to pay for asking questions and the focus of teaching shifting only to the tutoring classes. Despite reporting the violations, the teachers remained unpunished. Instead, her daughter was coerced to retract her report and apologize to the teachers.

Following the incident, Liu demanded an apology, compensation for medical expenses and emotional distress, as well as appropriate punishment for the teachers. However, the education bureau neither responded positively nor took action, advising their daughter to take a break from school.

Subsequently, the Binhai New Area Public Security Bureau stated on April 10 that the case of the assault on Gao did not involve any illegal activities and decided to terminate the investigation.

Liu urged for justice, condemning the school leaders and seven teachers for assaulting a minor and criticized the police for their inaction, hoping for support from advocates of justice.

The incident sparked outrage online, with many netizens expressing disbelief and anger towards the teachers’ behavior. They demanded accountability and highlighted the severity of the situation, calling for a thorough investigation and proper handling of the issue in a society where such atrocities should not be tolerated.
