On the morning of June 25th, a chemical plant in Tianjin caught fire, with at least 7 people injured and 1 person missing. Videos circulated on the internet show thick smoke billowing at the scene. Witnesses reported hearing noises and smelling a strong, acrid odor when the incident occurred.

According to China Central Television (CCTV), a fire broke out at the hydrogen peroxide oxidation tower of Tianjin Bohua Chemical Development Co., Ltd at 10:20 am on the 25th. The accident resulted in 7 injured individuals being hospitalized, with one in critical condition. Additionally, one person remains missing at the site.

An eyewitness interviewed by “Dahe Daily” subsidiary “Yu Video” disclosed that they heard noises and saw dense black smoke rising while detecting a pungent, sour smell. The witness was working at a construction site near the scene of the incident and immediately alerted their co-workers to evacuate upon realizing the situation.

Online comments expressed concern, with one saying, “The explosion site is 300 meters away from our construction site, it’s quite frightening.” Others speculated, “Who was that person near the gas that exploded? We heard the explosion and quickly ran.”

The company involved, as per its official website information, was established in December 2015. It is a comprehensive chemical manufacturing enterprise that integrates the chlor-alkali industry with the petrochemical industry, with a focus on the development of two major product lines, petrochemicals, and chlor-alkali chemicals.
