Recently, there have been three key vacancies in top positions in Guangdong Province, China. The latest development occurred on May 1st when Wang Ruijun, the Minister of the United Front Work Department of Guangdong Province, was appointed as the Deputy Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, leaving the position of the Minister of the United Front Work Department in Guangdong vacant. Prior to this, the positions of the Minister of the Organization Department of the Provincial Party Committee and the Secretary-General of the Provincial Party Committee in Guangdong were also vacant.
On the 1st of May, the official website of the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee announced that Wang Ruijun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Committee and the Minister of the United Front Work Department, had been appointed as the Deputy Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.
Wang Ruijun took office as the Mayor and Party Secretary of Shaoguan City, Guangdong in 2020, and was promoted to the Guangdong Provincial Committee in May 2022. He later served as the Minister of the Provincial Committee’s United Front Work Department until his recent move to Beijing.
Following Wang Ruijun’s transfer to Beijing, the position of Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Guangdong Provincial Committee became vacant. In addition to this position, as of now, the positions of Minister of the Organization Department of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary-General of the Provincial Party Committee in Guangdong are also vacant.
Previously, Cheng Fubo, who served as a Standing Committee member of the Guangdong Provincial Committee and Minister of the Organization Department, was transferred to the position of Chairman of China Ordnance Industry Group Co., Ltd. on the 30th of last month. Zhang Xiaoqiang, who previously served as a Standing Committee member of the Guangdong Provincial Committee and Secretary-General, was transferred to the Standing Committee of the Gansu Provincial Committee and Party Secretary of Lanzhou City in July last year.
