Mysterious Flying Objects in Xi’an Cause Wide Attention in Stormy Weather

On the evening of May 2nd, amidst stormy weather in Xi’an, the appearance of unidentified elongated objects has sparked widespread attention. “Unidentified Flying Objects in Xi’an” trended on the hot search lists of major social platforms on May 4th. According to eyewitness descriptions and various analyses, the phenomenon exhibited the following characteristics: in the night sky, there were gray-black elongated objects moving at extremely fast speeds with a meandering trajectory. Witnesses described it as “resembling a water dragon,” with a flowing tail and exhibiting scale-like reflections under strong lightning. Some videos showed at least three similar objects in simultaneous activity.

Videos captured by numerous eyewitnesses displayed multiple gray-black elongated objects in the night sky. These objects swiftly traversed the sky with a winding and spiraling motion, measuring approximately 5-8 meters in length, narrow in width, and with a “flowing tail” at the end. The objects displayed a “scale-like reflection” in the lightning of the thunderstorm, distinct from the common shapes of kites, birds, or plastic bags. “They circled like dragons, at least three of them.”

The event sparked discussions on social media platforms. Some netizens speculated it could be drones, but drones have difficulty maintaining stable flight in stormy weather, and there were no relevant flight notifications at the time.

According to reports from Extreme Vision News, at around 9 a.m. on May 4th, when consulting the Xi’an Meteorological Bureau, a staff member mentioned encountering videos of the unidentified flying objects. Some netizens claimed they looked like dragons, while others likened them to plastic bags floating in the air. On May 2nd, Xi’an did experience brief heavy rainfall, but no abnormal conditions were monitored. For further explanations, inquiries could be directed to the Xi’an Meteorological Observatory.

Regarding the unidentified flying objects, a staff member from the Xi’an Meteorological Observatory mentioned to Extreme Vision News that she had not heard about the incident and would report back after obtaining more information.
