On Tuesday, June 17, United States State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce emphasized the need to trust President Trump’s words when discussing the issue of Iran not having nuclear weapons amidst ongoing conflicts between Israel and Iran.
She stated that with the continued conflict between Israel and Iran, President Trump has made it clear that Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons.
When asked about Trump’s comments on Monday night expressing hope for a “genuine end” to the Iran-Israel conflict, Bruce responded, “We can trust Trump’s words.”
“But I will not speculate further on what this means. It depends on the President, as he is the sole decision-maker guiding what will happen from now on,” she added.
Bruce also mentioned that the State Department has established a special working group for the Middle East to assist in coordinating support for citizens and diplomatic missions.
She reminded American citizens not to travel to Israel, Iraq, or Iran, and clarified that the special working group has designated staff to answer calls from American citizens worldwide and ensure they receive the necessary assistance.
Due to the “global situation we are dealing with,” Bruce mentioned during the briefing that she could only answer a limited number of questions.
Meanwhile, according to information obtained by Dajiyuan, President Trump was meeting with the National Security team in the situation room on Tuesday afternoon to make decisions regarding the U.S. policy on the Iran-Iraq conflict.
The President had cut short his participation in the G7 summit in Canada on Monday, returning to Washington to focus on resolving the Iran issue. He informed accompanying reporters onboard Air Force One that he is not interested in a “ceasefire,” but in a “genuine end” to the war and Iran’s nuclear program.
Prior to the meeting in the situation room on Tuesday, President Trump posted on Truth Social, “We now have total control of Iranian airspace. Iran has great air tracking capabilities and other defense systems, many in numbers, but not comparable to those made in the USA.”
Minutes later, he warned Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei not to target U.S. troops in the Middle East.
“We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He is very easy to hit, but is safe there. We won’t take him out, at least not for now. But we don’t want missiles hitting civilians or American soldiers. Our patience is running out,” Trump wrote.
In a third post within an hour, Trump wrote, “Unconditional surrender.”
